外经贸部12月10日 晚首次在其网站公布“中国加入世界贸易组织法律文件”。
11月11日，外经贸部部长石广生代表中国政府在中国入世议定书上正式签字，并向WTO秘书处递交了由国家主席江泽民签署的中国加入世界贸易组织批准书。12月11日，我国将正式成为世界贸易组织成员。(记者 张晓松 刘诗平)
